Memory Bias and Memory Confidence in Obsessive - Compulsive Disorder (Checker-Type), Obsessive - Compulsive Personality, and Generalized
Anxiety Disorder

Abstract: Theobject of this research was to study memory problems in obsessive- compulsivedisorder (checker-type) in comparison withobsessive - compulsive personality disorder and generalized anxietydisorder.For this purpose four groups ofsubjects (OCD, checker-type; OCPD; GAD and normal controls) were selected. Theclinical subjects were referred from psychiatric offices- and to confirm theirdiagnoses they were interviewed using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual ofMental Disorders-4th edition (DSMIV). Subjects were giving Beck AnxietyInventory and Maudsley Obsessional Compulsive Inventory. The subjects’ memorywas studied using computerized tasks. Findings showed that the groups did notportray significant differences in their overall memory functions. However, theGAD group solely showed memory bias.
